Announcing A New Landmark Publication:
Introduction to Yazidology: History, Customs and Traditions, and Yazidi Religious Beliefs
Published by Al-Mada Publishing and Distribution, this academic textbook has been developed under the supervision and sponsorship of Sinjar Academy.
The book is co-authored by: Dr. Majid Hassan Ali, Dr. Rezan Shivan Aysef, Dr. Hadi Taalo Pir, Researcher Shukr Khidr Murad Al-Aldakhi, with contributions from a distinguished group of academics and researchers who provided scholarly consultation, scientific review, and technical editing.
This publication comes at a time when small religious and cultural identities are increasingly subject to misunderstanding and misrepresentation. It offers a rigorous academic study of the Yazidi religion as understood and presented by the Yazidi community itself, examining its history, theological beliefs, and social and spiritual customs and traditions.
The book is organized into three main sections:
- Yazidi History
- Theology and Religious Beliefs
- Customs and Traditions
Its purpose is to provide students, researchers, and those interested in religious and social studies with a reliable academic reference while contributing to the preservation of Yazidi religious and intellectual heritage and passing that knowledge on to future generations in both the homeland and the diaspora.
More than a textbook, this is a book about a memory that has endured and a faith that has remained alive despite centuries of challenges, persecution, and firmans (campaigns of persecution against the Yazidi people).
