Digital Media

The Digital Media course is open to students interested in learning the fundamentals of photography and video production. Students will participate in learning experiences in both online and face-to-face formats. Lessons include foundations of photo, video, and audio, as well as hands-on training using both software and hardware. Students who take advantage of this opportunity will receive an immersive introduction to the world of digital media and be prepared for job placement in multiple fields.

 

Objectives:

Learn photography and video production. 

Content and Subject Matter:

This course is projected to be 3 months, 4 hours a week, 12 weeks and equaling 48 lessons.

  • Week One: Intro to Photography

  • Week Two: Editing on Lightroom Mobile and Adobe Lightroom

  • Week Three: Personal Style

  • Week Four: Intro to Photoshop Express and Adobe Photoshop

  • Week Five: Intro to Filmmaking (iMovie and Premiere Pro)

  • Week Six: Pre-Production

  • Week Seven: Production

  • Week Eight: Post-Production

  • Week Nine: Individual Video Production Project

  • Week Ten: Audio. Working with sound.

  • Week Eleven: Group Music Video Production.

  • Week Twelve: Conclusion

Learning Experiences:

Course lessons will be taught with the use of free cell phone apps Lightroom Mobile and Photoshop Express. Students will also have some access to a DSLR camera and desktop or laptop computers to practice Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro. By the end of the course, students will learn the basics of photography, editing photos in Lightroom and Photoshop, and be able to produce a video on iMovie and Premiere Pro. Students will be able to take, adjust and export professional photos and videos from their phones and computers.
